…and accuses me of pirating my own programs!
The other day I got paid by Tradebit, where I was selling a few of my files. I hadn’t been able to afford much time setting up a a lot of stuff there because things have been so hectic for so long, so I only had five or six titles up. In fact I was getting about one sale every few months. This last time I got paid for a sale, I decided to put it on my list that I would start adding titles there. But when I went to log in, I found that I could not.
When I asked their help for help, I got two e-mails in return: one stating the following:

Dear Catlord17,
we received several copyright violation notices from big publishers in the
last 2 days and have warned various of the merchants before:
We do not discuss the sales of pirated files on tradebit, we delete the
account and no money is paid out.
Buyers will be refunded and asked to delete the copyrighted file. Merchants
who had sales on copyrighted materials (especially the “for dummies” ebook
pirates and the forex software pirates) will not get paid and their emails
will be blocked from now on. We try to run a clean and easy business here the
affiliates and merchants can count on. If sellers try to trick that, it might
work – but not on the long run.
Neither Paypal, Google Checkout nor Clickbank or our other partners tolerate
copyright violations and we are now more people here and have more time to
control these publications and obey our partnership contracts.
There are top merchants here on tradebit who sell great files and tools. It is
just unfair to put their business in danger by letting some of the copyrighted
files slip through! Just stay away from copyrighted material and create your
own content – there are enough examples on tradebit, which show that one can
live from “private publications” like video tutorials or collections of free
stuff.

Now I can certainly understand their concern for copyright violation, but this was also the exact same letter I got after stating that I own the copyright and pointing them to my two web stores. Apparently, they simply do not care to look twice. So I applaud them for looking after my copyrights, but it angers me no end that they are essentially accusing me of piracy, and with my own stuff!
That ended my interest in working with them. I will henceforth boycott Tradebit, and I advise all people – both buyers and sellers – to do the same, until they get their act together and stop being so damned lazy about copyright ownership. Tradebit, if you’re reading this, you’re going to have to be willing to think beyond a knee jerk reaction to succeed. And here I thought you guys were a good thing when I found you. So much for “intelligent file hosting and sales”.
